Inteva Cottondale Raises Awareness for Breast Cancer
During the month of October, Inteva Cottondale Operations celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness. A committee was formed in order to develop and coordinate various fundraising activities for the month. Consisting of four Cottondale team members: Erika Lee, Joyce Gray, Chris Sloan, and Randy Sartain, the committee developed and implemented several fundraising activities for the month including:
- Breast Cancer “Bingo” Breast cancer awareness quiz
- The sale of meals and snacks across all three shifts
- Lunchtime raffles and silent auctions, where all items were donated by Inteva employees and local businesses
- $250 cash raffle
All Cottondale team members were given an “I can beat breast cancer” bookmark with instructions on how to give a self-exam. Women were also given a pink ink pen that read “Live, love, believe in the cure” and men a blue one that read “Tough guys wear pink.” Having our own breast cancer survivors at our Inteva Cottondale facility, this cause hit close to home. Many individuals went above and beyond to contribute to this great cause. From making meals to donating Inteva items for auctions, the empathy and initiative during this outreach did not go unnoticed. Because of all of these efforts, the plant raised $2,165 dollars, a feat that makes this year our best fundraising year ever!

Employees and Career Day guests combined efforts to purchase and donate school supplies for children who would not have otherwise had the supplies needed for the 2012 school year. “This was a great opportunity to showcase Inteva as a community partner and educational advocate,” said CEO & President Lon Offenbacher. “It is important for us to practice our core value of caring for the world and our communities.
