In the spirit of celebrating Inteva's Core Value We Care for the World and Our Communities, Adrian Operations in Adrian, Michigan organized several group initiatives. The team organized a chili and bake goods cooking contest with all proceeds to Lenawee County Habitat for Humanity and a collection of food donations given to the Lenawee County Mission Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry.
“We stay in contact with these local charities and try to address their needs as best we can.” said Deb Neblo Engineering Team Supervisor. “Each month we select a different charity for the team to support and I believe our ability to serve others in the local community is truly a blessing.”
The chili and bake goods cooking contest was held on Thursday, March 14th. Adrian employees were invited to be a contestant and to cook and bake their favorite dishes for other team members to sample. Donations were collected, employees sampled the dishes and favorites were voted.
The Adrian team raised $603.53 which was presented by Lowell Glick, Gary Rhinehart and Terry Williams to Robin McDonald, Habitat Resource Development Director and Lynn Punnett, Habitat Executive Director.
During the month of March the team also collected food to donate to the Lenawee County Mission Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry. This food pantry serves all of Lenawee County and its surrounding areas. Team members donated and collected over 1000lbs of food throughout the month of March. This included a ‘peanut butter pyramid’ consisting of 85 jars of peanut butter for the food pantry.
“With the cost of meat rising, peanut butter becomes a protein substitute for many and the food pantry, said Deb. “The food pantry reported that they were unable to keep this staple on the shelves, and we were happy to be able to help.”
Any Adrian employee can suggest a charitable event for the month. The request is then reviewed by a joint committee and once approved the team plans the event, asks for volunteers and has fun serving others. Members of the Committee include, Terry Price, UAW Benefits Rep., Leon Fournier, UAW Jobsetter, Larry Kastel, UAW Machine Cleaner, Joe Smith, Local 2031 Shop Chairman, Tom Cabello, Labor Relations, and Deb Neblo, Engineering Team Supervisor.
