The Sales & Marketing group in Troy, Michigan, along with support from the entire Troy-based team, raised $908.48 and collected 518 small toys and supply items for La Merced, a medical mission and community outreach charity providing care in Nicaragua. The Sales & Marketing team hosted a Nicaraguan Fiesta on May 16 to generate funds and also collected toys, supplies and cash donations for La Merced for two weeks leading up to the Fiesta. Sylvie Foley, Senior Account Manager in Sales & Marketing, will be traveling to Nicaragua on June 7, 2014 to serve as a Spanish interpreter on a 10-day medical mission trip with La Merced.
“I am deeply touched and very thankful to the entire Inteva Sales & Marketing team for supporting me in this important outreach effort and for organizing a great fundraising activity for La Merced,” said Foley. “This was an impressive display of care for La Merced’s mission and a way to come together here at Inteva for a meaningful cause.”
The Nicaraguan Fiesta was held in the lunch room at Troy Headquarters and featured a menu of delicious food prepared by the Sales & Marketing team. Beef and chicken tacos, nachos, chips and salsa, desserts, non-alcoholic margaritas and more were among the food items served. Nicaraguan music played in the background while team members enjoyed spending time and eating lunch with each other, all while supporting a great cause. The entire Troy team was invited to attend the Fiesta to help raise money for La Merced.
In addition to the cash donations that were collected, the Sales & Marketing team also asked for small toy and supply item donations for La Merced. Throughout the two week collection period, members of the Troy team generously donated small stuffed animals, small playground balls, matchbox-sized cars and trucks, small dolls, notebooks, markers, coloring books, baby wipes and more.
“The leadership team at Inteva Products is very proud of our employees and the tradition that has been developed of donating their time, talents and money to so many worthy causes,” said Gerard Roose, Vice President, Sales & Marketing. “Sylvie brought La Merced to the attention of the Inteva family and as usual, the team responded
in a big way! The drive for toys and supplies along with the fiesta is another example of Inteva employees making a difference in the lives of others.”
La Merced is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides specialized medical services, supplies, and community outreach to the poor, focusing on our neighbors in Nicaragua.
