TROY, Mich., Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Inteva Products is expanding its automotive capabilities and global presence with the opening of a new Closure Systems manufacturing plant in Cordeiropolis, Brazil. The 40,000 square-foot facility was dedicated today in a Grand Opening Celebration attended by customers, suppliers and government officials including Vice-Governor of the State of Sao Paulo Guilherme Afif Domingos and City of Cordeiropolis Mayor Carlos Cesar Tamiazo.
The Cordeiropolis Operations and Technical Center includes an engineering testing center, manufacturing lines for door latches and window regulators, plus open space to accommodate planned expansions in 2012 and 2013. Inteva has approximately 100 employees in Cordeiropolis with plans to add approximately 25 to accommodate new business in 2012.
"Brazil and the South American market hold a significant place in our global growth plans," said Lon Offenbacher, President and CEO, Inteva Products, during the grand opening ceremony. "We have tremendous opportunities on the horizon to grow our business here in Brazil. My hope is that one day in the future, Brazil will be a center of production for products from all four of our product lines."
Three new window regulator production lines are planned for Cordeiropolis. One will open by March 2012 to serve a European automaker and two will open in April 2013 to serve an American automaker.
In addition to opening the new Cordeiropolis Operations and Technical Center this year, Inteva has opened new engineering technical centers in Shanghai, China and Vandalia, Ohio.
"2011 has been a great year of expansion for Inteva's global footprint," said Offenbacher. "We have a proven and demonstrated track record of achieving sales growth even in the toughest markets and economic conditions. Our global expansion in 2011 reflects this success and also a pattern that I believe will continue in the years to come."
