Inteva Products employees at the company’s World Headquarters in Troy, Michigan elevated the spirit of giving during the 2013 holiday season by donating their time, money and energy to help make the holidays a little brighter for others in the community. It is estimated that over 5,000 people in the Metro Detroit community including foster children, hospitalized children, homeless families, hungry children, the disabled, the sick and the poor, received benefit from this collaborative volunteer effort.
The second annual Inteva Troy Cares initiative launched in early November when individuals and teams selected a cause or mission to support and began planning the holiday giving projects, which benefited numerous organizations including:
- Adopt-a-Family
- Beaumont Children’s Hospital
- Blessings in a Backpack
- Capuchin Soup Kitchen
- Children’s Hospital of Michigan SNOWPILE
- Faith Communities Coalition on Foster Care
- Gleaners Food Bank
- Grace Centers of Hope
- Judson Center
- Melanoma Research Foundation
- Michigan Humane Society
- Open Hands Food Pantry
- The Salvation Army
- Toys for Tots
“The Inteva Troy Cares program is one of many initiatives throughout the company where we give back to our community,” said Tom Munley, Vice President of Human Resources. “All of the people who participate in the Troy program have passion and appreciation for the charitable activities we support.”
Inteva employees were onsite in the community serving food, packing backpacks, visiting the hospitalized, working in food pantries, sorting clothes and providing companionship during shared meals for those in need. Employees went shopping for toys and household items to help those who are doing without. Employees baked goods and planned meals to raise funds for their selected causes.
Troy employees gathered on December 12, 2013 for an all-employee meeting to exchange stories about their fundraising, donating and volunteering efforts. Humbling stories of generosity were shared with the group. More than $2,500 was raised; hundreds of gifts, supplies and food items were donated; and countless hours of service were volunteered to the charities over the course of the program.
“The financial support and the gift of time means a lot to the people benefiting from theses charities as most don’t enjoy the simple amenities we sometimes take for granted,” said Tom. “Our employee teams have given us good reason to be proud of what we are doing to impact people in need. “Inteva Troy Cares” is much more than a name; it is a culture that we are very proud of.”
